Furlik




The Furlik family originates from Nowosielce Austria. Today, Nowosielce is near Sanok in south-eastern Poland.

Antoni Furlik was born about 1800 in Nowosielce Austria. He immigrated 15 Nov 1913 through Ellis Island NY on the ship Amerika. It looks as if he travelled alone, and was headed to see his Aunt Anna Tutak in New York, NY. Antoni married Franciszka Twardy.

Franciszka Twardy was born about 1887 in Nowosielce Austria. She immigrated first 24 May 1905 through Ellis Island NY on the same ship as Marcin Tutak and second 26 Jun 1912 through Ellis Island NY, headed to Stamford, Fairfield CT, to the Dudek family, on the ship Zeeland.

Antoni and Franciszka had four children:


  1. Petronela Furlik died 1954 in Nowosielce Poland.
  2. Bronislawa Twarda Furlik was born about 1907.
  3. Janina Wegrzyn Furlik was born about 1909.
  4. Mikolaj Nicholas Furlik was born about 1911.





Wasyl Furlik was born about 1883 in Nowosielce Austria and died before 1930 in CT. He immigrated 29 Aug 1903 through Ellis Island on the ship Moltke to Stamford, Fairfield, CT. Wasyl married Akilia Ella (Furlik).
Akilia Ella (Furlik) was born 18 Oct 1885 in Austria and died 26 Jan 1975 in Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT. She immigrated to the US in 1901.

Wasyl and Akilia had two children:

  1. Stefanie/Stella Furlik was born about 1915 in CT. She was listed as a saleswoman in the 1935 directory of Stamford CT.
  2. Mildred Furlik was born about 1916 in CT. She is listed on Ancestry.com under Fralick.

Anna Furlik was born about 1889 in Nowosielce Austria. She immigrated 3 Mar 1906 through Ellis Island to Willimantic CT. Anna married Michal Plesz.
Michal Plesz was born about 1898.

Anna and Michal had two children:

  1. Olga Plesz was born 11 Aug 1911 in NY and died 15 Dec 2001 in Orlando, Orange Co., FL.
  2. Girard Plesz was born about 1914 in NY.




Marya Furlik was born about 1893 in Nowosielce Austria. She immigrated to the US three times, with the last being on 30 Mar 1910 through Ellis Island NY to Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT. Her name was changed to Mary upon citizenship in the US. Marya married Jan A Tyrczyk about 1905.
Jan A Tyrczyk was born 24 Dec 1884 in Nowosielce Austria and died in May 1972. He immigrated 6 Jul 1909 through Ellis Island NY to Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT on the ship Kronzprinzessin Cecilie. His name was changed to John upon citizenship in the US.

Mary and John had five children:


  1. Katarzyna M Tyrcyk was born about 1907 in Nowosielce Austria and died 9 Mar 1962 in Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT. She immigrated 30 Mar 1910 through Ellis Island NY to Stamford. Her name was changed to Catherine S Tyrcyk upon citizenship in the US. She was listed as a proofreader for the Gillespie Bros. Co. in the 1935 Stamford Directory. She never married.
  2. Anna R Tyrcyk was born 15 Apr 1909 in Nowosielce Austria and died 5 Nov 1987 in Fairfield CT. She immigrated 30 Mar 1910 through Ellis Island NY to Stamford. She was listed as a cashier in the 1935 Stamford Directory. Anna married W Ken Hawks.
  3. Stefania Tyrcyk was born about 1913.
  4. William J Tyrcyk was born 18 Mar 1916 and died 12 Feb 1993 in Stamford, Fairfield Co., CT. He never married.
  5. Helen M Tyrcyk was born about 1919 in the US.



Mikolaj Furlik was born about 1892 in Nowosielce Austria. He immigrated 30 Mar 1910 through Ellis Island NY to Willimantic CT with his SIL Marya Tyrczyk. See the Twin Phenomenon.

Constantine Furlik was born about 1892 in Nowosielce Austria. He and Mikolaj were twins. See the Twin Phenomenon.



Antonina Furlik was born 11 Mar 1897 in Nowosielce Austria. She died 8 Nov 1979 in Toledo, OH. Antonina married Jedrzej Tutak.
Antonina emigrated from Nowosielce Austria through Bremen Germany to New York, where her name was changed to Antoinette. She sailed on the SS George Washington on 05 Apr 1913, and arrived in New York 14 Apr 1913. She was listed as 17 years old, single, a servant, able to read and write, and was of Austrian nationality and Ruthenian race. She stated she left her mother, Kat Furlik, in Nowosielce and was headed to her sister-in-law's, last name Pless. She had $10 dollars on her, had never been to the States before, and was listed as 5'2" with brown hair and blue eyes. She travelled alone. Antoinette Tutak petitioned for citizenship in the United States 15 Feb 1940.
Jedrzej Tutak was born 28 Nov 1897 in Nowosielce Austria.
