Antill




Could be spelled Antill, Antel, or Antle. It was spelled Antle on the 1850 Census for Greene Co., PA, but also indicated that John and Isabell could not read or write.


Gen 10:
John Antle was born about 1717 in Sesquehanna Flats, Harford (then Baltimore) County, Maryland. He married Blanche West.
Blanche West was born about 1732.

John and Blanche had five children:

  1. Ann Antill was born about 1761
  2. John Antle was born about 1763 - See Generation 9 below
  3. Hannah Antill was born about 1765
  4. Sarah Antill was born about 1767
  5. Thomas Antill was born about 1770



Gen 9:
John Antle was born about 1763 in Hartford Co., MD. He died between 1850 - 1860 in Perry Township, Greene County, PA. John married first Sarah Ann Quinlan, second Elizabeth Wise, and third Isabella Chenith in 1819 in Fayette Co., PA.
Isabella Chenith was born about 1802 in Fayette Co., PA. She died about 1871 in Greene County, PA. Isabella was the daughter of Edward Chenith.

John and Isabella had nine children:

  1. Edward Antill was born 20 Oct 1823. See Generation 8 below.
  2. Eliza Antill was born 29 Jan 1827 in Greene Co., PA and died 14 Apr 1899 in Bushnell, McDonough Co., IL. She married Alfred B Copeland about 1945 at Mount Morris, Greene Co., PA. Eliza and Alfred had ten children.
  3. Sarah Antill was born 2 Mar 1829 in PA and died 4 Feb 1910 in Forest City, IL. She married Milton Bailey White.
  4. John Isom Antill was born about 1832 and died 28 Oct 1864 in Andersonville GA. He married first Susan Pethal and second Sarah Gump. John and Sarah had three children: Richard, Sarah and Edward.
    1. Isom served the North in Company I, 61st Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry and died in Andersonville Prison in Georgia on October 28, 1864 of Scurvy. He is buried there in Grave #11607.
  5. Harvey Antill was born 22 Mar 1832 at Meadow Run, Dunkard Township, Greene Co., PA and died 9 Nov 1911 near New Freeport, Greene Co., PA of heart failure. Harvey married Elizabeth McCollough, who was born 14 Jul 1828, and they had three children.
  6. Asbury Antill was born 24 Mar 1836 in Greene Co., PA and died 10 Aug 1909 at Short Creek, Ohio Co., WV. He married Sarah King about 1857, the daughter of Hannah Whipkey and Moses King. Asbury and Sarah had seven children: William, Harvey, Jane, Margaret, Lewis, John, and Asbury.
  7. David Antill was born 8 Mar 1838 in Perry Township, Greene Co., PA and died 4 Dec 1911. He married first Elizabeth Davis and second Hannah Hinerman. David and Hannah had three children: Marietta, Minnesota and David A. As of 1876, David lived in Aleppe Township, Greene Co., PA.
  8. Richard Jacob Antill was born 8 Mar 1838 (David's twin) in Perry Township, Greene Co., PA and died in May 1864 in the Battle of Spotsylvania in the Civil War.
  9. George Lindsey Antill was born about 1841 in Perry Township, Greene Co., PA and died after 1916. He married Margaret and as of 1876, lived in Ryerson PA.



Gen 8:
Edward Antill was a farmer, born 20 Oct 1823 in Dunkard Township, Greene Co., PA. He died 17 Nov 1916 in Avella, Cecil Township, Washington Co., PA. Edward married Zilphe Spragg about 1857.
Zilphe Spragg was born 14 Aug 1831 in PA and died 19 Jan 1908. She was the daughter of Uriah Spragg.

Edward and Zilphe had seven children:

  1. Isabel Antill was born about 1853 in PA.
  2. Uriah Lemmon Antill was born about 1858. See Generation 7 below.
  3. John Antill was born 19 Jul 1860 in Greene Co., PA.
  4. Jacob Antill was born about 1864.
  5. Sarah Jane Antill was born 23 May 1867 in Aleppo Township, Greene Co., PA and died 5 Mar 1939 at Cherry Valley, Washington Co., PA. She married Hugh H Tustin 6 Nov 1888, the son of Sarah Cole and William Tustin. Sarah and Hugh had six children: Ora, Harry Edward, Ray Alva, Ensel D, Flossie Z, and Frederick D.
  6. William E Antill was born about 1872 in PA.
  7. Milton Antill was born about 1876 in PA.



Gen 7:
Uriah Lemmon Antill was born around 1858. He married first Rebecca Hartzell about 1902, and second Martha Wade Kimble about 1878.
Martha Wade Kimble was born 1853. Martha was the daughter of Martha Wade and Daniel Kimble.

Lem and Martha had six children:

  1. George Antill was born about 1879 in Aleppo Township, Greene Co., PA. He married Ruth.
  2. Goldie Antill
  3. Edward Antill was born about 1889 and married Lulu.
  4. Frank Lemmon Antill was born about 1880 and married Minetta Frey.
  5. Jennie Maribell Antill was born 20 Jul 1884 in PA and died about 1976. She married Wilbur Ross Gilmore.
  6. Elizabeth Antill was born 24 Jan 1891. See Generation 6 below.



Gen 6:
Elizabeth Antill was born 24 Jan 1891. Elizabeth married Charles F Davis.
Charles F Davis was born 13 Dec 1887 and was the son of Martha Durbin and Henry Davis.

Elizabeth and Charles had four children:

  1. Lee Ann Davis was born 27 Aug 1914. She married Kelcy Rual Monday, the son of Margaret B Johnson and Rual O Monday. See Generation 5.
